Why EVN Exists

It all started a couple of years ago, these dialogues on climate, with us sharing our own stories—about what was happening in each of our countries and what we were doing in response—and inviting others to show up and share their experiences and insights. As we’ve heard each other out, in dialogue, we’re learning of surprising sometimes enlightening differences.
In all of it, we’re discovering just how many of even our toughest challenges we actually have in common—and how much we can offer some help on Water, Food, Shelter, Peace-making, Safety, Restoring the soil, Helping our people understand the climate crisis, Reclaiming traditional solutions, Creating new ones.
Especially, maybe most importantly, in this network we’re also discovering how much we actually need each other—and care about each other—gaining and giving needed support, some of it personal, some practical: how further strengthen our work, or publicize it, find funding, develop partnerships.
Here’s the thing: doing all we can, all the time, to solve the problems just in front of us, we find ourselves too busy even to look up let alone look afar for answers and support. In all this, we may pay no attention at all to how we are even feeling let alone to where we could be growing and expanding our own power to do what’s needed, with new ideas and with new energies.
Over these two years then, and laid out below, is where we’ve arrived at this point. If what we’re now doing appeals to you, we’re happy to talk with you more about it, hearing your ideas, answering your questions, and if you wish to join in, welcoming you with open arms.Â
